Mechanical as-is drafting, general drafting, and design work are systematically assigned to our STI (Studies and Investments) department.
This originates from all manufacturing departments of AMBelgium, ranging from the Raw Materials department to the finishing lines.
Modifications and adjustments to technical drawings are carried out systematically for various users, such as: Maintenance services, production services (for repairs and improvements), Engineering, and Purchasing (for the procurement of parts).
You will receive a brief introduction to the role from two experienced mentors (technical assistants).
You will have four colleagues who are mechanical drafters and designers performing similar tasks in the same spacious environment.
· You perform as-is modifications and open and save plans in a predefined manner.
· You perform 2D drafting (possibly based on a 3D model) and save the plans in a predefined manner.
· You create a 2D or 3D design of a component or an assembly of an installation.
· You create a 3D model of a design based on the needs of the client or the design engineer. Subsequently, you may also produce 2D (detail) plans from this 3D design.
· You further develop a concept into a basic design.
· You devise 3D concepts based on examples or completed projects, existing market solutions, and input from your Technical Assistant or project engineer.
· After processing input from stakeholders/clients, you convert the basic design into a detailed design suitable for further construction, assembly, and installation.
· You support your colleagues with any questions or remarks regarding a design.
· You can ‘see through’ a machine and are able to analyze and solve mechanical issues.
· You are self-critical and seek effective, workable solutions.
· You provide a brief daily report (verbally or via email) to the Mechanical Technical Assistant (10 min).
· You log your time spent per drafting request daily (5 min).
· You log your working time per individual assignment in the General Work Schedule daily (5 min).
· Technical skills
o Possess high practical knowledge of mechanics (plan reading, tolerances, materials, mechanisms, standard materials, etc.).
· Experience/Skills
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar roles is preferred.
o Be enterprising and proactive
o Be able to work in a structured, punctual and independent manner
o Ability to produce short reports during and after meetings with clients.
o Knowledge of the following applications: 3D CAD software (Inventor, Navisworks) and 2D (AutoCAD).
· Education
o Bachelor’s degree level in (electro-)mechanics.
· Language skills
o Possess good communication skills to express yourself both verbally and in writing in Dutch and English.
