Designer / Maintenance Work Preparator

As a Designer / Process Work Preparator, you play a key role in projects involving process installations, with a strong focus on maintenance and shutdowns. You contribute to the revamping of existing installations, implement design adjustments, and prepare clear execution packages for contractors and internal teams.

You will quickly integrate into ongoing projects and provide hands-on support to the team, making an immediate impact. Additionally, you are co-responsible for the preparation of a major shutdown in early July.

Function

  • Supporting the project team in designing new process installations and modifying existing equipment in an industrial environment
  • Developing 3D models and construction drawings based on P&ID diagrams, in close collaboration with colleagues
  • Drafting technical specifications for requests for quotation and project execution
  • Supporting or managing the ordering of equipment and materials required for execution
  • Participating in technical meetings with suppliers and reviewing quotes against technical specifications
  • Preparing cost estimates and schedules at the request of the project team
  • Presenting and explaining designs during meetings with internal stakeholders, adjusting designs where necessary
  • Converting technical studies into work preparation packages for execution
  • Coordinating and supervising contractors and/or internal technicians during execution
  • Monitoring on-site execution to ensure safe, correct, and timely completion of the work
  • Supporting the monitoring of scope, budget, planning, and execution, in collaboration with a senior colleague
  • Actively supporting the building support team during shutdowns (including shift work if necessary)
  • Switching flexibly between design activities and work preparation, depending on the needs of the team
  • Gradually expanding responsibilities and autonomy under the guidance of an experienced colleague
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanics or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in a technical role within an industrial maintenance environment (required)
  • Experience with 2D and 3D design tools for industrial installations
  • Excellent practical knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with work preparation and on-site follow-up
  • Good understanding of industrial process installations
  • Knowledge of SAP and SharePoint is a major plus
  • Able to become operational quickly within an existing team and project setup
  • Works independently and is able to set priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Analytical, precise, and structured way of working
  • Strong eagerness to learn, curiosity, and willingness to deepen technical knowledge
  • Assertive and communicative, with a result-oriented attitude
  • Able to handle time pressure and tight deadlines, especially during shutdowns
